Storl sees off American challenge

Germany’s David Storl emerged victorious in the men’s shot put at the MEETING AREVA.

Though the eight-man shot put competition featured four American throwers, it was Germany’s David Storl who had the final word. The 23-year-old 2011 and 2013 world champion pulled out a throw of 21.41m on his third attempt to win from US duo Reese Hoffa (21.38m) and Kurt Roberts (20.67m). With four no-throws out of six, Diamond Race leader Joe Kovacs finished eighth and last (19.46m) but still heads the standings.
