Press Brief Christophe Lemaitre
I’m looking to keep my momentum after Lausanne. The most important is to get back up in the European rankings before the European Championships. I’d like to run around 10.10, and why not get even closer to 10 seconds. That would be a great performance for me. The goal will be to be in the fight all race long.

It’s always up and down with athletics. I hurt my foot in Shanghai, and it’s been pretty difficult since. I didn’t become a bad runner overnight. I want to have a good performance in Paris, a beautiful city. As a hurdler you have to focus on your lane. But I saw Pascal Martinot Lagarde’s great performance last night. He has very good capabilities.

I don’t think that I ran my best race last night in Lausanne despite beating my personal best. I though that my race in Oslo, where I finished in 13.12 with a negative wind, was better. So I believe that I still have a pretty big margin to improve. Last year’s meet was kind of the beginning of the new Pascal Martinot Lagarde. I took in a lot of confidence and I started to run in times that can get me medals. So I hope that Paris 2014 will be even better.

I didn’t have a problem in Sacramento. My coach had planned for me to run just one round. I need to continue progressing and training. I need to be patient this year. I’m hoping to have a good technical race tomorrow. Hopefully my time will continue to drop. My focus for this season is just to get back healthy and 100%. It’s been a rocky road. It’s difficult to be patient. My coach doesn’t want me to push too much this season, as this is kind of an off year. The next 3 years will be very intense. I love being in Paris, so I’ll stay a little bit after the competition to train here. It’s a great city

I wouldn’t say that I’m at 100% right now. But all athletes have problems and injuries. It comes with sport, when you push your limits you’ll always have some problems. But it’s been 2 pretty rough months, which is a bit unusual for me. So I’m just looking to see what happens tomorrow, as it will be my first race since Rome. I just want to finish the race and run as fast as possible. There’s no room for error because we have a very talented group of female athletes. I need a strong competition to see where I am. I will compete at the Commonwealth Games, but I’m not 100% sure of what races I’ll be competing in.

We’re all here to try to win and run as fast as possible. I had a small injury after last week’s European Cup, but I did an MRI yesterday and everything’s ok. I’m not totally satisfied with the start of my season, both on 100 and 200 metres. I’m still looking for better results. I’m not going to focus on the other girls tomorrow, I’m just going to run as fast as I can. I hope to win the 100 and 200m French national titles. After that I’ll be looking at the European Championships without any pressure. There’s a very good group of girls so it should be a good fight.

I’ve had a great start to my season. It was a great accomplishment to finish first at the nationals. I ran in 12.44 with a negative wind so I’m feeling really good right now. I’m very excited about tomorrow’s race. The last time I ran in Paris was in 2009, and when I saw this year’s line-up I thought that they brought the best of the best. Hopefully the rain will stop and it will be a great race. This season is about understanding mentally what my coach Bobby is telling me and preparing for 2015 and 2016.

I’ve only run once in Europe this season and it wasn’t that great. I’m coming back from a small injury that I got in Rome. I feel good now. It’s just about getting my rhythm and my speed back. I’ll be looking to run faster tomorrow night. I raced here in Paris two years ago. I won and I beat the Diamond League record, so I’m very happy to be back. And Paris is my favourite city. Hopefully I’ll run a good time and I’ll show the crowd something special. My main goal this season are the Commonwealth Games. I love running for Australia. And it’ll be 8 weeks after my injury so I should be in perfect shape

The best hurdlers in the world will be running tomorrow. I don’t think that this race will define the rest of my season but my goal will be to be in the fight until the finish line and to aim for the win. I think that I’m part of the best hurdlers in the world now. I believe that I can run faster than the French national record, but I’m not focused on this right now. I always run to win and I look at the time afterwards.

I really want to have fun tomorrow night. I’ll be jumping at home, in front of my crowd. All the girls are very close this season, so this meet will be a great occasion to mark my territory and to show that I’m ready for Zurich. My main goal will be to get through the qualifications and to have 3 more jumps. This will be a great test before the European Championships. This season I’ll also try to get closer to 7 metres and why not beat the French national record.
